About Waypoint Roofing and Construction Co.
Waypoint Roofing and Construction Co. was founded in Dripping Springs in 2024 by Michael and Madison Kastel. The company is young; the crew is not — our team brings more than 40 years of combined roofing experience across Central Texas. Texas does not license roofing contractors, so here is what we carry instead: RCAT membership, general liability insurance at $1M per occurrence and $2M aggregate, manufacturer certifications from Owens Corning, CertainTeed, Malarkey and Versico, and HAAG-certified inspectors on staff.

A real person answers. Every call.
The short answer
We are a boutique contractor by choice. That word gets used to mean expensive; here it means we take on a number of jobs we can personally stand behind, and one of the two owners is reachable on every one of them. If you want the version of this page with an awards wall on it, we do not have one. What we have is a founding date, a set of credentials you can check, and several hundred photographs of our own work.
Michael and Madison Kastel

Michael and Madison started Waypoint in 2024, in the town they live in. The photograph is the two of them and their daughter, and it is on this page for the same reason the project photographs are on /our-work/ — it is ours, it is recent, and it is checkable.
Dripping Springs is not an accident of geography for us. Our office is here, our children will go to school here, and the roofs in the photographs on this site are mostly within a half-hour drive of it. That is the whole argument for hiring a local contractor and it only works if it is true, so we say where we actually work on where we work and name the jobs behind it.
“The fastest way to lose a customer in this business is to sell them a roof they did not need. We would rather tell you the roof has five years left in it and be the people you call when it does not.”
— Michael Kastel, owner
Why a small company on purpose
A high-volume roofing company solves a scheduling problem: it needs enough crews moving to keep the sales team fed. We solve a different one. We quote what we can install to the standard we would want on our own house, and the constraint on how many roofs we do in a season is how many we can personally look at.
In practice that shows up in small ways. The person who inspects your roof is the person who writes the scope. We climb every roof we can safely walk rather than measuring it from a satellite image. We take no deposit — you pay when the job is finished. And we will tell you when the answer is a repair rather than a replacement, or when it is nothing at all, which is a conversation you can read in our customers’ own words further down this site.

What we carry instead of a licence
Texas issues no roofing licence, which means the trade has no floor under it and anybody with a truck can print a card. Here is our list, in full, with nothing on it we cannot produce on request:
- Insurance. General liability at $1,000,000 per occurrence, $2,000,000 general aggregate and $2,000,000 products and completed operations, plus $1,000,000 commercial auto. The current certificate of insurance is available on request.
- RCAT. Member of the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas.
- Manufacturer certifications. Owens Corning, CertainTeed and Malarkey on the residential side, Versico for commercial single-ply. We are not printing a program tier next to any of those names until we have the paperwork in front of us that says which tier it is.
- HAAG-certified inspectors on staff, which is the qualification that matters when the question is whether hail actually damaged a roof.
- Chambers of commerce. Dripping Springs and Lake Travis.
- A five-year workmanship guarantee on installations, alongside the manufacturer’s own material warranty.

One thing you will not find here: a wall of insurance carrier logos. We have worked alongside homeowners insured by most major carriers. We do not work for your insurance company, we are not affiliated with any of them, and a grid of their trademarks under “who we work with” would imply otherwise. You file your own claim; we inspect, document, and build to the approved scope. Texas Insurance Code §4102.163 draws that line and we are on the correct side of it.
If you want to see the standard rather than read about it, the project gallery is every photograph we have published, and a free roof inspection ends with a photo report you keep whether or not you hire us. Our address and hours are on the contact page.

Common questions
Is Waypoint licensed to roof in Texas?
Texas does not license roofing contractors — there is no state licence for us or for anybody else to hold, so a roofer who shows you a "roofing licence" is showing you something else. What we carry instead is general liability insurance, RCAT membership, manufacturer certifications from Owens Corning, CertainTeed, Malarkey and Versico, and HAAG-certified inspectors. All of it is checkable and we will hand over the paperwork on request.
How long has Waypoint been in business?
The company was founded in Dripping Springs in 2024 by Michael and Madison Kastel. The company is young and we would rather say so than round it up. The people doing the work are not: across the team there is more than 40 years of combined roofing experience in Central Texas, which is a different claim and the one that is actually true.
Are you insured, and can I see a certificate?
Yes. Our general liability policy is written at $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 general aggregate, with $2,000,000 products and completed operations, and we carry $1,000,000 commercial auto. Ask and we will send the current certificate of insurance before any work starts.
Who owns Waypoint Roofing?
Michael and Madison Kastel. It is one company, owned and run by the two of them out of Dripping Springs, and Michael is on roofs and in front of customers himself. If something goes wrong on your job there is a name attached to it, and it is not a franchise office in another state.
What does the five-year workmanship guarantee cover?
Our installation. If water gets in because of how we fitted the roof — a nail placed wrong, a flashing detail we did not close, a boot we did not seat — we come back and fix it at no charge for five years from completion. It does not cover the shingles themselves, which are covered by the manufacturer’s own warranty, and it does not cover new storm damage, which is a fresh claim rather than a callback.
