Hail and wind damage roof inspection and repair in Central Texas
After a hail or wind storm, the damage that matters is usually not visible from the ground. We will climb your roof, document impact marks, creased or lifted shingles, and damaged vents, flashing and gutters, and give you a photo report you keep — free, and before you decide whether to file anything. Our inspectors are HAAG-certified. If you do file, you file the claim yourself; we inspect and document it, and we can meet your adjuster on site if you invite us.

A real person answers. Every call.
The short answer
The order matters more than the speed. Document the roof first, then decide whether there is enough damage to be worth a claim at all — a claim on a roof that will not total can leave you worse off than no claim. None of that costs you money or obliges you to use us. If water is coming in right now, skip all of it and call (512) 305-1111; the phone is answered 24/7 and a tarp comes before a report.
What should I do after hail hits my roof?
In this order. Stay off the roof — wet, hail-covered composition is genuinely dangerous. From the ground, photograph what you can see safely: dents in gutters, downspouts, window screens and AC condenser fins, and shingle debris in the yard. Write down the date. Get the roof inspected by somebody who will actually climb it. Then, and only then, decide whether to file.
How can I tell if my roof has hail damage?
From the ground, mostly you cannot, which is the whole problem. On the roof we look for a bruise: a soft, dark circle where the stone knocked granules off and fractured the mat underneath, which you can often feel with a thumb before you can see it. Round granule loss with no directional pattern, dents in soft metal — vents, valleys, flashing, gutter aprons — and split ridge caps point the same way. Blistering, scuffs from an old repair and ordinary weathering look similar to a homeowner and different to a HAAG-certified inspector.
What does wind damage look like?
Wind lifts rather than dents. Shingles crease across the tab where they were bent back and dropped again, and a creased shingle has lost its seal even when it looks fine from the driveway. We look along rakes, ridges and hips where uplift is highest, at ridge cap that has slid or torn, at backed-out fasteners, and at flashing that has been peeled and pushed back down. A branch through the decking is obvious. The creases are not, and they leak in the next storm.
Should I file an insurance claim for hail damage?
Your decision, and it should be made with the photographs in front of you rather than in the week after a storm because a truck was on your street. Damage unlikely to be approved still costs you a claim on your record; damage that clearly totals the roof usually should be filed. Your wind-and-hail deductible in Texas is often a percentage of the dwelling coverage rather than a flat figure, so check what yours actually is first.
You file your own claim; we inspect and document; we meet your adjuster on site if you invite us; we build to the approved scope and supplement with evidence when the scope is short; we do not promise an outcome, and Texas law forbids waiving your deductible. We are not public adjusters and cannot negotiate your settlement — Texas Insurance Code §4102.163 forbids it — and HB 2102 makes waiving, absorbing or rebating a deductible a Class B misdemeanor. The full sequence, with the statutes cited, is in our Texas roof insurance claims guide.
How long after a storm do I have to file a roof claim in Texas?
Sooner than most people think, and the deadline sits in your policy rather than in a single statute — Texas residential policies generally require prompt notice and set an outer limit measured from the date of loss. The practical answer is that the older the storm, the harder it is to show this damage came from that day. Read your policy or ask your agent for the notice provision in writing. Our claim guide goes through it properly.
Will my insurance rates go up if I file a hail claim?
It depends on your carrier, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. A weather claim is not an at-fault claim, but carriers differ on how claim history affects renewal pricing in a hail-exposed county, and only your agent can tell you how yours treats it. Ask before you file. Pushing the other way: Texas carriers commonly discount for Class 4 impact-rated shingles, which is what we install.
A roofer knocked on my door after the storm — should I sign anything?
Not that day, and not on a hood. Anyone promising to get your claim approved, handle the insurance company for you, or make your deductible disappear is describing something Texas law does not allow a roofer to do. Ask for a physical address, ask whether the crew is theirs or subcontracted, ask for a certificate of insurance, and read the cancellation terms indoors before you sign. We are at 100 Commons Rd in Dripping Springs, our number does not change between storms, and nothing we quote expires tonight.
What else does hail hit besides the roof?
Gutters and downspouts, window screens, garage doors, AC condenser fins, fascia and siding. We photograph all of it, because a dented gutter is evidence about the roof above it. See gutters and siding.
How a storm inspection runs
- Step 1
We inspect and document
Somebody goes up and photographs the damage slope by slope, hit by hit, with the date on it. That record is yours either way, and it is what an adjuster can actually work from.
- Step 2
You decide
You look at the photographs and decide whether a claim is worth filing. You file it; we do not, and Texas law is specific about why. If you invite us, we meet your adjuster on the roof with our record open.
- Step 3
We build it
We build the scope that was approved, and when the scope misses something the photographs already show, we supplement with the evidence rather than an argument. No deposit; you pay at the end.
What you can hold us to
No deposit — you pay when the job is done
Nothing changes hands until the work is finished and you have walked it with us.
We climb every roof
Aerial imagery measures a roof. It cannot show a bruised mat, a split boot or a backed-out nail, so we go up.
HAAG-certified inspectors
HAAG is the damage-assessment training the insurance industry itself uses, so the documentation is built to the standard the adjuster applies.

Hail in Central Texas, 2019 to 2026
This is the public record, not our marketing. NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Information logged 382 hail reports across the three counties we work in most — Hays (48), Travis (142) and Williamson (192) — between 1 January 2019 and 1 September 2026. Fifteen of the most notable days are below. If one is close to the day you remember, it is worth having the roof looked at.
| Date | Counties with reports | Largest reported stone (in) | Reports logged |
|---|---|---|---|
| 9 May 2026 | Travis, Williamson | 1.00 | 3 |
| 28 May 2025 | Travis, Williamson | 2.00 | 13 |

- NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information, Storm Events Database, accessed 2 September 2026 — https://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/stormevents/
- A day is listed when the largest reported stone was 1.00 in or more, or when three or more separate reports were logged across the three counties that day.
What this table is not
- Point reports, not storm paths. Each row is built from single observations at single locations. A report near a town does not mean the whole town was hit, or that your street was.
- The sizes are estimates. Diameters here are judged against reference objects by spotters and the public, not measured with calipers.
- 2026 is incomplete. NCEI publishes on a two-to-three-month lag; the file we pulled on 2 September 2026 ends in May 2026.
- Counts are reports, not storms. One storm can generate a dozen reports in an afternoon.

A fallen oak lying across the valley of a metal roof in Wimberley after a storm, photographed from the air. The gutters and ridge vent on the same house were packed solid with storm debris and leaf litter.

Hail hits chalked out on an Austin shingle roof
Hail impacts circled in chalk across architectural shingles during a storm inspection in Austin, alongside a cracked, sun-damaged pipe boot found on the same roof. Marking each hit in chalk is how the damage gets photographed rather than described.

Common questions
Do you charge for a storm inspection?
No. The climb, the photographs and the written report are free, and you keep the report whether or not you file anything and whether or not you hire us. If the roof came through intact, that is what the report says — a useful document to have on file the next time hail comes through.
My neighbor is getting a new roof. Does that mean I have damage?
A reason to look, not a conclusion. Hail falls in narrow, uneven paths — a street can be hit on one side and untouched on the other, which is exactly why the record above is made of point reports. The only way to know is for somebody to get on your roof.
Do you go door to door after storms?
No. We are based in Dripping Springs, founded here in 2024, and our crews are the same people between storms. If someone appears on your porch hours after a hailstorm with an out-of-state plate and a contract already filled in, that is a different business model. Read any contract indoors, away from the person who handed it to you.
